Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation Delivers Turkeys

More than 250 volunteers gathered earlier today at the Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation, at 724 North Union to get their marching orders to help distribute more than 2,000 donated frozen turkeys throughout the bi-state area on Saturday. St. Louis Mayor Francis G. Slay and St. Louis Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson also pitched in as volunteers during the annual charitable give-a-way effort. Here (L-R) Slay and Jenkerson surprised Clinton Peabody housing resident Darrin Stanley with a turkey and all of the fixings. Jackie Joyner Kersee, St. Louis Police Chief Dan Isom, Congressman William L. Clay, Jr., former St. Louis Rams' Mike Jones and founder Demetrious Johnson were also on hand visiting various parts of the St. Louis region, helping low-income and elderly have a brighter Thanksgiving holiday.
