Vashon High School Administrator Wins Lottery

Vashon High School Administrator Wins Lottery

Doris Hawkins of St. Louis has a big assignment.  She has to figure out how to spend $135,000 she won in the June 11 Show Me Cash drawing.  Hawkins used the Quick Pick option to select her numbers.  The winning numbers were 7, 9, 12, 13 and 17. She purchased her winning ticket at Johnson’s Amoco, 205 S. Vandeventer Ave., in St. Louis.

The Vashon High School administrator says the win is “a blessing from God.”  Hawkins, 45, is a frequent Lottery player and won as much as $3,200 with Pick 4 in the past.  But this win is the biggest she has experienced.

“I stopped for gas and to cash in a winning Pick 3 ticket worth $100.  The clerk scanned my Show Me Cash ticket, and it said $135,000,” said Hawkins.  “I screamed, ‘This cannot be happening! This cannot be happening!’”

Hawkins called her fiancé to give him the news. He didn't believe her.

“‘You won what,’ was all that he said,” chuckled Hawkins.
