Two Teen Girls Shot In South St. Louis

SOUTH ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-Two teenagers were shot in south St. Louis early Sunday morning.  Just before 3:30am, two teenage girls were approached in the 3600 block of Michigan by two men they had met earlier in the evening. According to St. Louis police, the men to the girls not to move, but the girls took off running. That’s when shots rang out.

One of the girls, who is under 18, was shot twice, once in the right foot and once in the left thigh.  The other girl, describes as being in her late teens, was shot in left thigh. Both were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition

The suspects are black males described only as wearing dark clothes.

Meth Suspected Shaw Neighborhood Home Explosion

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) –An explosion in the Shaw neighborhood in South St. Louis left one man injured Saturday.  It happened in the basement of a home in the 3800 block of Castleman.   Firefighters say the victim suffered burns to his face and chest.

Police suspect materials used in making meth may have sparked the blast.

Shooting Sends One Victim To Hospital

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) –St. Louis police are looking for the gunman who shot and injured a man in south St. Louis. Witnesses say a man driving a white Monte Carlo shot the victim in his stomach around 1:00pm Saturday on Gravois near Spring.

The victim was listed in stable condition.

Truck Flips In Carondelet Park

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) -   Police are looking for a man who ran from the scene of an overnight accident. It happened around 2am Friday in Carondelet Park.

A witness says a pickup truck flipped over after the driver rammed it into a tree.  The man then ran from the scene into nearby woods.

It is unclear if he was hurt in the accident.

Park Officials Indicted For Allegedly Embezzling Money

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– Two of the top officials with the city parks department have been indicted by the federal government for allegedly ripping off hundreds of thousands of dollars from taxpayers.

Indicted are Joseph Vacca, the city’s deputy parks commissioner, and Thomas Dan Stritzel, the chief of the city’s park rangers. Both have been with the city for well over 20 years.

embezellment chargesThe federal indictment charges that the two officials started embezzling money back in 2005 and bilked the city out of almost $465,000.

The two men now face up to three to five years in federal prison, plus forfeiture of all their assets including their homes.

MacHQ Repair Store Hit by Smash & Grab Thieves

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Smash and grab thieves targeted a St. Louis computer store and it’s not the first time the store has been hit.

It happened Mac Headquarters on Manchester Road in St. Louis around 3:30am Thursday.

Mac Headquarters is a computer store specializing in Apple products.

Police tell us the thieves drove a pickup truck right through the front door and stole all kinds of computer products.

Investigators say the pickup truck the suspects used was stolen from an Advanced Auto Repair store not too far away in Maplewood.

Police say four suspects were involved with the crime at Mac Headquarters and this is the third time the business has been hit recently.

Officers found the stolen pickup truck abandoned in an alley just a few blocks away.
