Highway Named for Fallen Officer Julius K. Moore
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-A portion of Interstate 55 from Gratiot to Pestalozzi in South St. Louis is being named in honor of fallen St. Louis Police Officer Julius K. Moore. A dedication ceremony was held Saturday in Kiener Plaza.
On October 6, 2009, Officer Moore was injured in an on duty car crash. He was traveling to assist fellow officers in chasing down burglary suspects when his patrol car collided with a tractor trailer. He died on October 15. Moore was only 23 years old.
Moore was commissioned as a police officer on December 6, 2007.
