Top 10 Red Light Runners In Missouri For 2011

A year-end list no one wants to be on:  the top 10 red light runners in Missouri for 2011.

The latest crash to make the list is from an intersection at Hampton and Gravois.  You'll see one driver, going north on Gravois, running the light; then a second driver, coming into camera view and running it too. The second driver ended up with a lot more problems than that ticket.

St. Louis Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson says the most disturbing part of Missouri’s top 10 red light runners video is that the video doesn’t show the injuries.

Arizona-based company, American Traffic Solutions, released the video as it faces mounting opposition to its devices and the millions of dollars those devices generate for ATS and cities that hire the company.

Saint Louis Art Museum Presents An Orchestrated Vision

Saint Louis Art Museum Presents An Orchestrated Vision

The Saint Louis Art Museum announces the February 19, 2012 opening of An Orchestrated Vision: The Theater of Contemporary Photography, a compelling survey of contemporary photographers, many presented in St. Louis for the first time. Seen together, the works reveal the remarkable potential of the photographic medium in contemporary artistic practice.

In 43 works from an international group of 36 artists, The Theater of Contemporary Photography encompasses a broad scope of perspectives and styles with an emphasis on the artists’ complex scene setting and directing from behind the camera rather than on capturing or mirroring the world in front of it. The artists’ work purposefully blurs the lines between fact and fiction, calling the viewer to closely inspect the sizeable images.

SLU Wants Permission To Tear Pevely Complex Down

Saint Louis University wants permission to demolish the old Pevely Dairy Complex on Grand Avenue. SLU says it'll turn the site into a new patient care center for Saint Louis University's hospital and medical school.

Pevely closed the location in 2008. In 2009, the complex caught fire. One building collapsed completely.

Preservationists say the old Pevely buildings should be saved, not torn down. "These buildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009, which means they have protection under St. Louis City demolition law," explained Michael Allen of the Preservation Research Office.

SLU's application for a demolition permit goes before the city's preservation board later this month. SLU has offered to preserve the old smokestack, and the front of one building facing Grand Avenue.
